Welcome to our Women in the Woodshop series! Our women's classes are intended to create a more comfortable environment for those who are interested in building their confidence and competence in woodworking and using tools, but who may have felt intimidated about joining this male dominated craft.
In this women's class, we'll learn to make a floating display shelf, with an optional rail that can be used to hang items. Our focus will be on effectively measuring and cutting through lap joints to ensure these shelves are both sleek and sturdy.
Participants will start by cutting their stock to the appropriate dimensions, next they will cut the joinery that allows the shelves to fit together, and finally they will get a crash course on using a router to cut keyhole slots that will allow the shelves to hang on the wall with no visible hardware. Participants will leave with a finished display shelf measuring approx. 29"w x 20"h x 6"d.
Note: This course will also be offered to all interested participants at a future date. Stay tuned!
