THE WOODSHOP
The Ottawa City Woodshop is deeply inspired by the region’s rich heritage as a booming lumber town. What was once one of the largest industrial operations in the world is now a vibrant national capital with little evidence of our industrial past or the significance that the timber trade played in shaping our city. The OCW was born from a desire to rediscover our industrial past, be inspired by our natural resources and bring woodworking back to a lumber town with a fully equipped, membership-based woodshop located in downtown Ottawa.
We are a strong advocate of supporting and building our local creative economy and are home to the city’s emerging urban woodworking community. With a specific dedication to woodworking, our aim is to provide the space, knowledge, community and tools necessary to support a vibrant woodworking scene in Ottawa.
The OCW was founded in May 2015 by Michael Grigoriev and Matt Wallace. Martin Thornell joined the ownership team in the spring of 2020.
