Creating, Carving & Hand-Printing an Owl Linocut
From initial sketch to finished 5x7 prints, this class will cover everything needed for someone to get started in the wonderful world of print making. Students will start by drawing an image on a 5' x 7' linocut plate with a pencil, Then they'll trace over this image with a non-erasable sharpie black marker. Once traced, they'll start to carve the image using Flexi-cut linocut tools, followed by inking the resulting linocut plate with Speedball relief printing ink. Final steps will include laying a piece of Japanese printmaking paper on top and then rubbing the top of the image with a wooden spoon or barren. Showing the resulting print (in reverse) alongside the linocut plate
