Steam Bent Toboggan (December 5, 12, 14) with Martin Thornell and Matt Wallace

The winter classic is back. After an incredible first go-around, don't miss your chance to build a classic steam bent ash toboggan just in time for the snowfall. 

In the first evening of this course, we will introduce you to the basic theory of steam bending and we will begin steaming and forming our Ash. By the end of the night it will be clamped up, where it will stay for several days. On our second evening we will begin laying out the necessary parts and doing some sanding and prep for the final complete assembly. Finally, during our last session we will be assembling the toboggan with premium brass hardware and applying the first coats of finish. 

Your toboggans will be ready for pick up the next day once the finish has dried. 

This course is taught by OCW owners Matt Wallace and Martin Thornell. 

Couples or teams (of 2 max) are welcome to work together on the same toboggan. 

Please note: The toboggans will have a simple rope handle, and not a leather handle as seen in this photo and video.
