Intro to Pyrography (Friday, July 17th, 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM) with Aicha Lasfar

Part 1: Introduction (15 minutes)
Short intro of the instructor
Short intro to the history of pyrography

Part 2: Pyrography 101 and Demo (25 minutes )
How heat application stains wood
How to use the tool to apply staining to wood
How to use different tips for different effects and textures
How to use sanding paper to correct errors/lighten darkened areas. 

Part 3: Practice (20 minutes)
Participants use scrap wood to experiment with the different tips and methods shown during the demo to get a feel for the tool before starting on the basswood plaque.

Part 4: Pyrography (3 hrs)
Participants transfer their chosen design on the basswood plaque and burn!
Instructor coaches and answers questions, helping participants with the process.
