What began is a small cluster of settlements around Chaudiere Falls in the late 18th century, the Ottawa Lumber District grew to include a collection of sawmills, lumber yards, timber slides, factories, breweries, and communities and was home to one of the largest industrial operations in the world.
The Lumber District of Ottawa print is the first comprehensive look at the district at its peak. Compiled from over 10 historical maps of the area, it captures Ottawa’s industrial operations at the peak of activity before the end of the lumber boom and 5 years prior to the devastation of the Great Fire of 1900.
It is printed locally on a large-scale 24" x 30" stock/
